Chicharra is built in community.

Chicharra Poetry Festival is made possible through the generosity, collaboration, and belief of cultural institutions, community organizations, businesses, artists, and individual supporters throughout Albuquerque and beyond.

Their support helps us bring poets together, create opportunities for young writers, build ambitious public programming, and keep festival attendance accessible to our community.

LEAD SUPPORTERS

City of Albuquerque Arts & Culture

We are deeply grateful to the City of Albuquerque Department of Arts & Culture for its generous and enthusiastic support of Chicharra. Their investment has helped us expand festival programming while keeping Chicharra accessible to the community.

Special thanks to Dr. Shelle Sanchez and Elsa Menendez for believing in the festival and helping us imagine what it could become.

The Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry

We are honored to receive generous support from the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry as a 2026–2027 grant recipient. The Foundation's $3,500 grant supports Chicharra's work to expand access to contemporary poetry, develop new and diverse audiences for the literary arts, and bring poets and communities together through free public programming.

Their investment helps us continue building a larger public home for poetry in Albuquerque and the Southwest.

Explora Science Center and Children's Museum of Albuquerque

We are tremendously grateful to Explora Science Center and Children's Museum of Albuquerque for its generous support of Chicharra and its commitment to our youth programming in 2026. Explora's partnership helped make Voices Rising possible and has allowed us to create new opportunities for young poets to write, perform, learn, and find community through poetry.

2027 COMMUNITY PARTNERS

We couldn't build Chicharra alone.

Our partners provide spaces, expertise, resources, collaboration, hospitality, and countless other forms of support that help bring the festival to life.

BECOME A CHICHARRA SPONSOR
